L’atelier / congrès EMBO Tuberculosis 2020 à Paris sera la 3ème grande conférence sur la tuberculose (TB) et les mycobactéries pathogènes qui se tiendra au centre des congrès (CIS) de l’Institut Pasteur au 21ème siècle, à la suite des deux précédents très réussis EMBO- parrainé des conférences tenues en 2012 et 2016 au même endroit. Comme la situation mondiale de la tuberculose est malheureusement encore très loin d’être résolue malgré quelques avancées scientifiques majeures ces dernières années, et que la tuberculose reste une maladie infectieuse clé qui fait chaque jour plus de 4000 morts dans le monde, la recherche d’un roman, scientifiquement très difficile , les solutions à cette tragédie humaine présentent un intérêt urgent et continu. Ainsi, les objectifs de cette réunion sont de réunir une masse critique de scientifiques impliqués dans la recherche pour communiquer et échanger de nouvelles informations sur la maladie et l’agent causal, ainsi que sur les mycobactéries apparentées d’intérêt médical.
